The Spencer Brownstone Gallery is pleased to announce its summer group exhibition, 2º, which includes works by nine artists: Jessica Buege, Ross Goldstein, Matt Hale, Hermenlinde Hergenhahn, Christina Kruse, Amy O'Neill, Lucy Scott, Peter Scott and Merrill Wagner. Each one of the gallery artists has chosen one artist to present in the show. The title of the show alludes to the process of creating this exhibition — the gallery has selected nine gallery artists with whom it has worked and in turn, these artists have selected their artists, hence 2º.
This exhibition curiously unfolds the diverse aesthetic of the already known gallery artists. Some of the artists select pieces within the same media in which they work, while others choose artworks that are significantly different from their own. Skip Arnold, Kelly Lamb, Oliver Marsden, Rebecca Quaytman, Jordan Tinker and Edwin Zwakman remain faithful to their respective media and select artists who compliment their own work. Olivier Mosset, James Rielly and Jeffrey Sturges pick artists in whom they can live vicariously. The final result is a glorious potluck exhibition.
