Spencer Brownstone Gallery (SBG) was founded in 1998 by Spencer Brownstone as a platform to promote strong art, compelling ideas, and the artists behind them. Since its inception, the gallery has been committed to showing contemporary art across all mediums by artists from all over the world.

SBG was first established on Wooster street, Soho before moving to Suffolk Street on the Lower East Side in 2016. Since then, the gallery has focused its energies on expanding our program by introducing a diverse new group of artists into our stable, while continuing to roll out thought provoking exhibitions for the public. The gallery takes a very hands-on approach to ideating and curating exhibitions. Curation is space-conscious regardless of medium. Certain architectural features of the gallery, including high ceilings, skylights and a courtyard, offer our artists a unique opportunity to challenge their sense of space and scale in art making. We credit these factors in the success of the programming thus far.
